a Butterfly Ball.

It is true I have been planning Avery's first birthday party since her arrival.
Why? She is special.
And as her mother I wanted to create an experience that will allow her to know, when she looks back at pictures, how special she is to me. All the late hours were time that I was ENJOYING the art of creating and also time that I was reflecting on what a blessing our butterfly has been to us.
Plus I can't deny crafting helps me feel better when I watch Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sister, The Bachelor, Glee, Parenthood and a few more along the way. (wink, wink)
The Invitation
Invitation and paper good by Fresh Chick Designs. Rebecca is my girl!
The Dessert Table
For the backdrop I use a 4x4 piece of plywood that I cover.
Custom burlap table cloth by Sweet Tea and Linen
Chocolate covered Oreos by Erin from naturally i
Cupcakes made by my pal Eva
I made my first little cake.
Not perfection but I am proud I made it.
Butterfly cake bunting I made.
I made the signs with my Silhouette.
The paper flowers were a labor of love.
The dessert plates were strawberry baskets lined with doilies.
The Craft Station
Mobiles I made. I really liked the tulle poms.
Crayons resided in my silver infant cups.
Rather than gifts we had guests bring books that will be donated to the Phoenix Children's Hospital.
Ribbon Window
Banner made with the Silhouette.
The Extras
I rescued this frame from a trash dump.
Spray paint is a miracle worker. It made a great welcome sign.
Custom "sippy cups" for each child.
The cups were found at the Dollar Tree.
White butterfly balloons

What a beautiful party! love all the butterflies! What a great idea for the desert plate too! :) Great job!!

Kat from California (March 28, 2011 at 5:54 PM)

I love to do theme parties for my daughter too. For her 1st I had a Farm theme with red gingham napkins and farm animals on the cake. Her 3rd was with butterflies and a butterfly cake made by her Aunt. I turned 40 twelve days before her 4th so we had an animal party and it was a "4 and 40" party. Her 5th was the funnest! It was a luau. I bought a volcano cake but instead of dinosaurs I got small palm trees and put Lilo and Stitch figurines on top.

Something Special by Suzann (June 23, 2011 at 9:26 PM)

Where did you find the butterfly craft project?

Carey C. Bailey (June 25, 2011 at 4:11 PM)

@Suzann. I just kinda made it up ;) Those are paint sticks from Home Depot that I spray painted. I cut hearts with my Shilouette to create the butterfly and then tied a ribbon around it. With Joy, Carey

Anonymous –  (June 27, 2011 at 6:27 AM)

Love love your party. You plan parties like I do. I've been working on my daughter's butterfly garden party for over 4 months now and it's not until Aug. May I ask where you found the beautiful butterfly balloons? They are so soft and feminine. Thanks, Traci

Carey C. Bailey (June 27, 2011 at 7:36 AM)

@Traci - Thanks! For some reason I can't find the site I used. But google "clear latex butterfly balloons" and then look at the search in the images tabs. They pop up everywhere. Thefind.com can usually give you the best prices out there. Hope that helps. I will look in my bookmarks and see if I saved the site I picked there. With Joy, Carey

Thanks so much Carey! I'll do that. :)

Really nicely done...

cintia (January 25, 2012 at 4:58 PM)

This is purely amazing! Well done. I am doing the same there (butterflies) for my daughter's 1st birthday party in March, cannot wait. We are also Bailey ;)

Vanessa's Mommy (March 12, 2012 at 6:16 AM)

Hi there, What a pretty birthday. My 5 month old's name is Vanessa which is the Greek word for butterfly. This would be a great starter for her birthday ideas. Can you tell me where you purchased the butterfly baloons?

Carey C. Bailey (March 12, 2012 at 12:39 PM)

@Vanessa's Mommy - I don't have the exact link but if you goggle clear latex butterfly balloons several stores that sell them pop up. Amazon is one of them. Hope that helps. With Joy, Carey

anastasia (September 30, 2012 at 6:02 AM)

Gorgeous! I wish you made and sold all of the beautiful materials for this party, as I am lazier than you as far as making things, but would love to have a party like that!
